Heat pumps are used for heating a house. They replace gas which is usually used for heating and electrifies it instead. It is considered a green option for home improvements because our national grid is partly powered by renewable energy. It is worth noting that heat pumps are not suitable for around half of the properties in Britain. Below are some reasons to consider heat pumps:
Heat pumps will save you money on your bills: heat pumps will save you money, particularly if it is paired with solar panels. It is better to get solar panels first before getting heat pumps. Heat pumps run on electricity, so if you have solar panels and pair them with heat pumps, it will cut the cost of your electricity bills because you will be using free electricity produced by solar panels. It is estimated that you can save 40% of your heating bills.
Heat pumps cut your carbon footprint: heat pumps are estimated to reduce carbon footprint of a house by 1.4 tonnes a year because it reduces the amount of gas you are using in your house.
Heat pumps are safe, have long lifespans and require less maintenance: a typical heat pump lasts 20 years which is far longer than a boiler and there no need to check whether it is operating safely. Heat pumps also require minimum maintenance and only need cleaning occasionally.
